Is Thailand going to win Miss Universe 2018?

Is Thailand going to win Miss Universe 2018?

Thailand also known as "The land of Smile” has been consistently sending strong and beautiful contestants to Miss Universe pageant. Specially since 2015 when Aniporn Chalermburanawong placed in Top 10 during Miss Universe 2015 after 8 years of non-placement in Miss Universe. From 2015 onwards, Miss Universe Thailand organisation has been very focused on grooming and styling their representatives to Miss Universe pageant. In 2016, we saw exotic features with strong sex appeal in Chalita Suansane who finished in Top 6 finalist and just last year the porcelain skin beauty Maria Ehren was the last Asian woman standing in Miss Universe 2017 Top 5 finalist.

This year the woman who will be the flag bearer for Thailand is our oriental beauty Ning Sophida Kanchanarin from Bangkok. She has a very unique face compare to her predecessor; she has oriental Asian features with light skin tone. Many fans have said that she resembles of Riyo Mori Miss Universe 2007 from Japan. Personally speaking I think Ning is a very intelligent woman who is a strong speaker both in Thai & English who seems to have a friendly personality from watching her videos and interactions on social media. She has the home court advantage this year because Miss Universe is returning back to Bangkok, Thailand after 13 years when Natalie Glebova from Canada was last crowned as Miss Universe 2005. Despite having the host country advantage; I think Ning will do surprisingly well in Miss Universe 2018 because she has been working out intensively and her styling has improved tremendously since Miss Universe Thailand 2018. I cannot wait to see her creative National Costume which has been selected from over 20,000 talented Thai designers in a nation wide design competition.

Conclusion
It is still too early to say whether or not Ning will win the ultimate crown of Miss Universe 2018. However, I can say that this year I will be very pleased if Thailand can win it’s 3rd Miss Universe crown after 30 years when Porntip Nakhirunkanok last won Miss Universe crown in 1988. It would a great gift to the Thai people who are feeling very depressed over the death of their former King Bhumibol Adulyadej whose 1 year mourning period just finished last October. So, let’s hope that Ning can make her people and her nation proud.
