Miss Nepal's Auction Gift for Miss Universe 2018

Manita Devkota Miss Universe Nepal 2018 has picked to bring this beautiful hand crafted Lord Gautam Buddha shadow box as the auction gift for Miss Universe 2018. This Buddhist shadow box is designed and created by Kayo Studio and Mr. Swarna Maharjan.

In Manita's own words:

"Hey Fam! ❤️
⁣I’m so excited to share with you all our auction gift for Miss Universe! I thought about what aspect of our beautiful/diverse culture can we share with the universe and I decided on Lord Buddha. Let me tell you all a little about our gift....⁣ ⁣

Our auction gift contains the heart of Lumbini; Lord Gautam Buddha. It comes in the form of a shadow box containing gold plated copper ornaments like: Statue of Lord Buddha, Buddhist Bajra, Dharma Chakra, and Stupa. Each of these elements in the box is symbolic to spirituality, indestructibility, cosmic law and order, and living energy; metaphoric to Lord Buddha’s foundation. Towards the base lies the holy sand from his birth place, Lumbini. Above it lies Buddhist Bajra, which symbolizes the properties of diamond and a thunderbolt i.e. indestructibility and irresistible force respectively. At the centre is the Statue of Lord Buddha meditating with an objective to attain nirvana and end all life suffering. On the back wall of the shadow box, Bodhi brikshya is hand-painted to represent the place of Buddha’s committed struggle and enlightenment. This Buddhist shadow box is designed and created by Kayo Studio, a Nepalese craftsmanship company. Lord Buddha, often referred to as the Light of Asia, is a pride to us Nepalese people, and this auction gift wishes to share that pride with others. I’m so thankful to Team Kayo and especially Mr. Swarna Maharjan for all his time and effort into making this simple gift look superb. ⁣"
